Col. Jimmy Mott (USAF, Ret.) will be honored as the grand marshal of the Andalusia Veterans Day Parade and will be guest speaker in the ceremony immediately following the parade at the Covington Veterans Memorial.

A native of Andalusia, Mott is a 1990 graduate of Andalusia High School. He received a Congressional appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He also earned advanced degrees in business, military operations, and strategic studies.

During his 25-year Air Force career, he served extensively in Special Operations. His assignments included Hurlburt Field, Bagram Airfield, and Singapore, and he often could not say where he was headed. These assignments placed him at the forefront of complex, high-stakes operations, where leadership, adaptability, and mission focus were essential. He has served as chief of safety, chief of Air Force programming, assistant operations officer, and an instructor.

Since his retirement in 2019, his commitment to service has not wavered. He now serves as Senior Director of Business Development and Capture at Leidos, where he has led major initiatives that strengthen national security, support emerging businesses, and deliver critical capabilities to warfighters.

The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Veterans Day Parade, which will roll at 10 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 11, from First Baptist Church. The City of Andalusia sponsors the program that follows at the Covington Veterans Memorial.
